The Gucci Bargain

A quick little lesson and a post I have kept meaning to share since the start of the year!  Sales shopping is the ideal time to invest, especially in brands that are usually well out of your reach and don't be put off by the scraggly pieces as they are often the gems.  Cue this purple number from Gucci.  They had a very small rail with something like a 'special price' gold sign below - very discreet!  Some odd items left on Boxing Day (yes, I braved Bicester Village on Boxing Day!) and this top jumped out at me.  It clearly needed a good iron but the cut looked stunning - especially around the sleeves, it was made of cotton and silk, it was a beautiful colour and the price, well it was £400 down to £45!  I took a snap of the ticket just to remind me what a bargain it was!

Even pre an iron it was a no brainer and more so as my sister offered to buy it as an early birthday present for me.

A tad naughty but I wore it before my birthday as we were off to our friends for New Years Eve and I just wanted a nice new top to wear.  I kept the rest of the outfit simple as once the bow was done up that really was the focal point.  I did add a tiny additional piece of fun with an animal print belt.  I love this top, I can see it staying in my wardrobe for years.  Don't be afraid to go into the big designer stores - you just never know what you may find!

Top; Gucci
Belt; J Crew
Trousers; Topshop
I am always rushing to get out the house, especially when my girls are also on a mission to get their outfit sorted...Hence the grainy shots and the only full half decent shot included them!

Shoes; Boden (Alice flats and my real life Alice to the right!)

White On White

I had an event to go to in London a few weeks back - it was when it didn't stop raining all day - that was the day!  I was desperate to wear my Prada skirt which is yet to be worn and had pretty much planned to until the last minute (that £50 bargain in case you missed the post!).  I just couldn't bring myself to do it, especially as I wanted to pop to a sample sale first.  Luckily I didn't as the sample sale was a good old fashioned one with boxes of stuff to dive in (I was too tired to get much but it was fun none the less). The rain literally did not stop, so I would have also been very wet and cold.  For once, I did have a back up plan.  I had grabbed some black Topshop Leigh jeans a few weeks before but was unsure due to not wearing much black.  I love my dark denim version but these black Leigh's ended up being perfect that day as they didn't feel to casual.  The tags we ripped off quickly, a little turn up added at the bottom so they weren't too contrived and then it was a monochrome look.  I went for one of my favourite tops - a silk Sandro then added my white blazer from Zara.  It was a little risk doing white on white but as the fabrics were so different, the colours weren't exact so they toned in together well.

Please excuse the hazy photos, it was nearly midnight at this stage, my contact lenses were drying up and I was exhausted.  But needs must, I was pleased with the outfit in the end and needed some photographic evidence!  I decided to add some light colour and fun with my handbag and shoes.  My vintage pale pink Chanel and my animal print Mulberry shoes finishing it off.

Bracelets; Valentino, Tiffany & Annie Haak
I love this old clasp on my handbag
Had it not have been throwing it down, this was my other plan.  I now just need another occasion to wear it as the skirt wants to be worn!

I liked this jewelled J.Crew top with it but felt it was a little more casual than I wanted for that evening
The vintage hat was taken off at the last minute, wasn't right with either outfit and I did prefer this jumper.  This ensemble will be saved for another day!

The One About The Boots

So after my last post on my purchases in August, I promised to share some pictures of the new items in action.  It has turned into a post pretty much about the boots though!  There I was deliberating over which colour to keep for at least a week, then once I decided, there was no stopping me wearing them!

Top; J Crew
Skirt; Moschino
Boots; Topshop
Bag; Prada
Worn for the first time was my Moschino skirt from this blog post.  I was thrilled when I found it in the Bath TK Maxx but hadn't worn it yet.  I was starting to think it was a bad purchase as I couldn't get it to work for me, then the boots arrived in my life and the fate of it was decided!  Due to the tie being at the side, it had to be worn with a top tucked in.

Photo bombed after an exciting party day (then poor Great Nan was about to get a headache of a visit!)
I love the frill around the front and yes, those are trainer socks you can see (from this angle only!)
The first outing for them actually came with my bargain Zara top and my very old and pretty faded black Topshop jeans, with a big turn up (I am rather partial to a turn up!).

Top; Zara
Jeans; Topshop - Baxter's (they don't make 'em like they used to...)
Boots; Topshop

Lastly and probably my least favourite outfit with them was teamed with my Gap jeans and new silk Whistles top.  Not 100% sure on looking back if I like this combination but I was in a hurry, it was way to early on a Sunday morning so it had to do.

Top; Whistles
Jeans; Gap
Boots; Topshop
Bag; Balenciaga

What originally made me keep this colour boot was that I'd tried them on with a dark blue jean and loved them together.  However my favourite look so far is with the skirt, I love them with the polka dot.  I think the black would only have extenuated my short legs by having a dark blob on the end of them.  The nude colour works perfectly.
