New Look Sandals

So a lovely school Mum and I got chatting, which ended up being about shoes, as you do!  She hates anything in between her toes and her current fav's were wearing very thin.  Once I know someone is in need, it's like I have a radar!  On a budget (aren't we all) and coming to the end of the season, she didn't want to spend a lot.  I happened to browse the last of the sale shoes in New Look at the week-end, and found these gems!  All leather, a fab versatile metallic colour, and wait, the best bit, all for £3!  Yes £3 for leather shoes people - it can be done!  I don't know who was more excited about them, her or me?!?!

Don't be fooled, check the label!

Using my blog as a voice to rant today!  Inspired by an email I've just seen, I have always had a thing about garment compositions.  I blame my parents entirely as they sent me out to work at a young age (sob...) and my first Saturday job was at a handbag and leather shop, need I say more, the obsession began.  Hence I have a thing about leather, always have, always will, I don't like plastic!

I just don't get it, top end High Street companies selling a sandal for £40, down to £15 in the sale, bargain I think.  I look into them further, plastic!  No other word for it, lets not big it up with fancy words, it is plastic!  Then you have lower end High Street selling leather sandals yearly for as little as £12 in the sale (less sometimes).  Why use man made on a higher end brand which wont last as long, look cheaper and ultimately are worse for our feet - you've guessed it, pennies!  It infuriates me that brands think they can use their name to sell, but then judging by the thousands of shoes left in their sale, buying cheep materials (buy cheep, buy twice!) obviously hasn't upped their sales.  I can't tarnish everyone with the same brush but it is just getting more common, and lets face it, if New Look and Primark can use a natural material like leather, why on earth can't more brand heavy names do the same?

Be careful people, make sure you check the the labels carefully, look after those feet of yours, you only get one pair!

Some new Tops!

I thought it rude not to pay a visit to Gap with the 25% voucher the other week (which was promptly followed by a 30% one).  I was very strict with myself as find it an easy shop to grab lots of basics in and go a little over board.  Missing in my cupboard was a black jumper.  I found this light weight number, made up of cotton, nylon and elastane (originally £19.99 and now £12.99 in the sale........I was too eager obviously).  I always try and go for a high round neck as I feel this suits my smaller upper body rather than a v neck.

I took a risk on this one from Hollister.  Not in that it is a staple in my wardrobe colour wise (or not as the case may be, I love neutrals on top!) but that when I tried it on I had my new Next chino's not my low slung skinnies, and they finish a little higher up my waist.  None the less, it looked great so I thought at the very least I have one pair of trousers to wear with it.  I love the bow detail on the neck at the back and small stitched flowers.  It has been worn already for a family meal to the pub (hence the washed & 'un-ironed' look photo's!)  with my grey chino's of course!

£19.80 Hollister
