Topshop: The Winner & The Looser

Well the bargain dress from my last post has been returned today.  It didn't look horrendous on but just not substantial enough.  It comes up fairly loose so I went a size down (ordered 3 sizes....!) so that it didn't just hang on me but then my bum pushed it out from the back and it was too short! Honestly it did!  It is very lightweight so if you are looking for a Summer dress to throw on when you're in hotter climates it would be perfect.

Being a bore and always going for neutrals I did love this marl grey.  As it's got flecks in it, it's less likely to show up any marks (I'm talking about us Mums with kids + ice-creams here, not me needing a bib by the way!).

I did however find this parka in Topshop instead.  'Another coat' announced my husband.  I really don't think I have that many - how many do you have?  Apparently I've replaced my handbag and shoe shopping habit with coats.  Well I will soon put that one right.  I am in need of a new handbag.....

The reasoning behind this purchase was that although I do have a pac-a-mac waterproof coat for school runs, it isn't the coolest of items I own.  I have been on the look out for a khaki number for a while and bought and returned at least two from memory this year.  I wanted something not long, not heavy in fabric (who else gets a sweat on on school runs?!?!?) and not light in colour (the old marks issue around kids again).  This was £60 down to £45.  I like the way it can be pulled in from inside to highlight the waist with the teared look from the back.

Lots of pockets.  Mummy's need pockets.  I am not a faux leather fan, but the edging around the pockets (the other two as well when you lift the flap) is minimal so I let it off.  I don't mind it actually and if it was real leather I couldn't pop it in the wash.

And I now use hoods - and I mean properly use them.  Not like back in the day when I thought it was cool to purchase a hoddie just because it had a hood.

I've had a look online but they only have the tan and navy versions left, I found mine in store.  I did however find this parka below which I really like.  Being a shorty it would probably fall too low on me but I love the print on it.  Mine by the way comes up true to large size wise.

£75 down to £35
PS whilst I was wearing a parka, a light weight jacket and still felt a little too warm in this muggy weather, I happened to stumble upon this lady.  Faux fur hooded coat for todays weather.  I am always cold and always wear a vest but this puts me to shame!

  1. The parka is a great buy...fingers crossed you are not going to need it this bank holiday weekend! I purchased the little dress when it was full price as I thought it would look good with tights and brogues but just like you I took it bag....it was a bit something and nothing on me! xx
