The Outnet Loss & Skater Shoes - Yay or Nay?

I'm blaming the weather for my utter lack of enthusiasm for dressing right now - how dull and pants is it and is anyone else bored and lacking motivation to put anything else on other than the trusty jeans and jumper combo?  I even called halt to a shopping trip to Westfield as after 3 hours there was nothing I liked nor fancied, nothing was 'doing it for me'.  Ok so maybe the children weren't helping my shopping mojo but that aside I did feel at a loss with what's out there right now.  So I did what I thought was best, came home and did three online orders.......Gap, J Crew and Zara.  All free delivery and returns so watch this space, I may feel inspired sometime soon.  Note to self, this however is my last random online ordering for a while (purely to get my mojo back...).  Back to shopping with my trusted list of 'needs' based on what is missing.  Shopping list coming soon.

On a different note, I have been keeping an eye out in the footwear departments of late.  A client I am working with was after some new pumps and I found her these from Zara.  She loves them and says they are so comfortable.  Ideally these were for her boyfriend styled jeans but I can see them working equally as well with a big turn up on a more fitted pair.

Zara £69.99
So it started me thinking about my own footwear and of course, whether I could benefit from such a style in my wardrobe.  I am a loyal ballet pump wearer, only last year did I branch out to Converse which were animal print of course.  More recently I have been wearing my Onitsuka Tiger trainers, pretty much daily for the school run.  Is there a hole in my wardrobe for an in betweener - something that sits between a ballet pump and a trainer?  Well there's always holes I say but finding one that works for my slender foot may be another issue altogether.

I saw these on The Outnet last week, but by the time I came to check out they had sold out.  They were half price, £110 down to £55 by Michael Kors and looked fairly narrow from the images.  You snooze you loose!  What a price as well.

One of the only shops that had some items I loved at Westfield was Whistles.  I tried on a few pairs of shoes but felt they looked like boats on me.  I also thought the price tag was a bit steep on the skater style but none the less, they had a nice selection.

Espadrilles £85

Skaters £135
So over to you.  Have you brought into the skater trend?  Any narrow ones you recommend that don't appear clumpy?  Or do you think it is it too short a trend for you to invest?

    1. I did, after I lost out & googled them & saw you got them even cheaper than they sold them for the second time round. Then I chose not to read any further to fuel my anger at missing out!!! Great buy though! x

    3. If only. Kat's just pointed me in the direction of her Next ones, so I'm going to give the pony skin ones a whirl! Found a pair of sparkle ones on there too so popped them in my basket. Arrive in store Sunday. I checked out straight away this time......!x

  2. I think you just have to try them to see how they look on the foot. Some look and feel great on and some make you feel seriously frumptastic.

Love all the Whistles ones - but not so much the price :o(

    1. I also meant to say - have a look at the leather ones in Office if you like those in Whistles. http://www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,30/1670490035 I have my eye on the white ones.

  3. I think I prefer the skater look to the espadrilles however they were more comfy than the chunky skaters. Those Office ones are near on identical! x

  5. I think they look super cool on other people, just not me! I bought a pair a while ago from Next Clearance (snakeskin) for a tenner. I'm glad I didn't spend anymore as they've been worn twice. But, but, but it's raining today and reading your post has just made me think I should give them another go xx

    1. So did you dig them out today?!?! I am the same, love them on others just not me. But I eventually found some Converse that worked last year so I'm keen to find some in this style too! x

  6. How do you wear yours with or without socks? I hate cold feet.

    1. Up until last year, I would wear socks and with trainers but only wear jeans that covered them. Now though, I have completely changed. I wore my Onitsuka's all day today around London and my feet were always warm and comfortable. However, I always wear vests and loads of layers so I think my torso is warm permanently so that probably helps x

    1. They are Zara - but great aren't they! Have seen in the flesh (and forgot to take a photo!) and stunning but weren't right on me either. x

  8. KG heavenly! I think Michelle has them and they are good.
Clarks also have a fab pair in at the moment.

    I love the silver ones!

And don not get me started on the weather

    1. Checking out Clarks then too, thank you! I fancied some sparkle after seeing the Michael Kors, although they are a completely different shoe to the skater, but I did like them. Yep, weather is just nasty to us, especially being half term x

  9. Hi Natalie! I have the M&S leopard ones & live in them! They do feel a bit big/boat like to begin with but you soon get used to them & they lose the bulky look after a while! When you're used to ballet pumps anything else will feel big & bulky at first! I love the blue leopard skaters! Ax

    1. Yes you are right Andrea, my ballet pump love has gone on for years so it is hard to adjust my eye. The Next one's are just borderline too small (have tried breaking them in!) So will give M&S a try also x

  10. I have the Zara ones in black with a red and black top. They are supremely comfortable - and I have a narrow foot. And even better, they were pretty cheap - even for Zara's Sydney branch. The secret I think is to find a pair that don't look like boats on your feet and don't spend too much on them.
