My Favourite Golden Globes Dresses

With the recent Golden Globes comes the dresses and there were a few that I wanted to share with you.  I love seeing all the pictures come through and how daring the celebrities have been.  It's proper Hollywood glamour at it's best.  All opinions are my own!

I love Emma Watson's style, she always wears clean lines and looks immaculate and effortless.  She's young and doing something different here with this Christian Dior Couture outfit but I am just not feeling the trousers.  I know it's been thought very highly of in the press but for me if it didn't have that gap in the back so that she didn't wear the trousers, it would have been perfect.  The colour and way the elegant dress falls is so feminine I just don't want to toughen it up with black trousers.  Sorry Emma!

Cate Blanchett rocking her Armani Prive dress.  So stunning on her, it isn't too revealing but you can just see enough flesh underneath to not make it to harsh on her.  A sleek barnet and red Hollywood lips sets it off perfectly.

Olivia Wilde shows of her tidy little bump in this green Gucci number.  I love the colour block, no fuss, just sparkle, fitted, floor length chic.  Go Olivia!

Oh Sandra Bullock, I'm just not in love with this Prabal Gurung on you.  When I was searching for this image there was even a picture of the liquorice allsorts man next to you.  I'm not a fan on the higher hemline at the front but I do love the hand in the pocket touch.  I like a good pocket in a dress.  Great neck line and shape (apart from that hem), just a shame about the colour blocking.  But it's ok, everyone thinks you're so fab you can get away with it!

On paper, for me this would not have been my cup of tea, a shirt under a strapless gown.  But Julia Roberts works this Dolce & Gabbana number.  I love the tougher masculine top part with the 'Jessica Rabbit' dress.  Maybe its that monochrome that makes it work, any other pair of colours probably wouldn't.  The sparkle on the belt finishes it off.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture.  Just one black belt too many.  It's Dior though, enough said.

Camila Alves in sizzling black Dolce & Gabbana.  Wow.  Finished with tousling waves and some dangling gems from her ears.  I love the small train on the dress, one of my favourites.

68 years old and you've still got it Helen Mirren.  Lace is always a winner for me and this green Jenny Packham dress fits Helen and her shape so well.  The ruching around the waistline drawers her in and emphasises her womanly shape.  The dress just flows from her hips down.  The colour is great for her complexion and she just radiates glamour.  My favourite by far.  Who was yours?

  2. Yes, it was Cate for me too. While I loved Helen's dress, I didn't like the colour - it was just a couple of shades too bright for me. Loved this post...how great would it be to wear these frocks all the time! Ax

  3. Doesn't Cate Blanchett look stunning? I love that Emma Watson took a complete risk - didn't get it totally right but like how it is so different:)
